This film covers two clandestine trips made by Gwynne Roberts through the ‘prohibited zones’ of Kurdistan Iraq in 1981 and 1985. Under Saddam, anyone found in these forbidden areas could be shot on sight or publicly executed. As a result, the Kurdish guerrilla campaign against Baghdad was extremely difficult to film.

In reporting the story for Britain’s ITN news network, he produced unique footage which proved Iraq’s scorched earth policy towards the Kurds.
