Iraqi dissident Kanan Makiya travels to post-Gulf War Kurdistan and learns how Saddam Hussein’s regime exterminated more than 100,000 Kurdish people in the late 1980s.
Shot and directed by Gwynne Roberts, Iraq’s Killing Fields was broadcast by PBS Frontline and won the Press Club of America’s prestigious Ed Murrow Award for Best Documentary on Foreign Affairs shown in the USA in 1992.
It was broadcast by the BBC in the UK as part of their Everyman series under the title ‘Road Back to Hell’.
