When the terrible civil war in Sierra Leone ended in 2002 it marked the beginning of a new set of challenges for its people. Their lives had been devastated by 11 years of conflict in which almost half the country’s population was displaced and about 100,000 were left dead or mutilated, frequently by child soldiers.

Filmed over 6 years, Sierra Leone: End of a Nightmare shows ordinary and extraordinary people trying to construct a new future for themselves.

It was broadcast by BBC World and selected as one of their ‘Top 10 Documentaries’ of the year.
